KAIN Alden Times, January 17, 1946 Bernice June, daughter of Ray and Josephine Catlin, was born June 8, 1916 at Alden, Iowa, and passed away January 16, 1946, at the age of 29, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Kain grew to young womanhood in the Alden community and graduated from Alden High School with the class of 1933. Music was always one of her greatest interests and during high school she participated actively in musical activities. For several years after her graduation from high school she chose a musical career as a vocalist. On October 12, 1939, she was married to William E Kain of Algona, also a musician. In June, 1943, Mr. Kain was drafted into service, at which time Mrs. Kain began work for the Register and Tribune Co., in Des Moines, where she worked until last summer when her health began failing. She spent the last month and a half at the home of her mother, Mrs. Catlin, who cared for her during her illness. She is survived by her husband, her mother, four sisters, Mrs. F. T. Pudil of Charles City, Mrs. S. J. Farr of Des Moines, Mrs. Clifton Nelson and Miss Marlys Catlin of Alden, and three brothers, Donovan Catlin of Los Angeles, CA, Pvt. Marvin Catlin of Camp Campbell, KY, and Charles Catlin of Alden. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Scott Funeral Home, and will be conducted by Rev. G. W. Campbell of the Congregational Church. Burial will be in the Alden cemetary.
