Bernice Lucille Koehn was born October 23, 1936, in Elizabeth, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Lisk) Koehn. Her family later moved to Mechanicsville. She graduated from Clarence North Cedar High School in 1954. She married Ronald Dean Boots in 1955, in Mechanicsville. She was employed with Sauer's Grocery in Central City and also worked as a custodian at the Central City Schools and as a cook at Four Oaks. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Women's Fellowship, Monday Club and several other church committees. She served on the city council and Central City Main Street Committee and was awarded the Central City Main Street Volunteer of the Year Award in 2010 from Governor Branstad. She was a past Campfire Leader and enjoyed fishing, camping and helping people in her community. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Dorothy Paup and Delores Barker and one brother, Clayton Koehn. Murdoch Funeral Home
