At the age of 23 years she was united in marriage to Jesse A. Evans and has resided on the farm where she died ever since. BERNICE EVANS Bernice Fleener was born, December 27, 1876, and died at her home in Washington Twp., May 29th, 1911 at the age of 34 years, 5 months and 4 days. At the age of 23 years she was united in marriage to Jesse A. Evans and has resided on the farm where she died ever since. Her life was marked by patient industry and tenderness in the home, always ready to administer to those nearest and dearest to her. Her kindness and gentle nature has won for her, the respect of all who knew her. She leaves to mourn, her husband, Jesse A. Evans, three little girls, Velma, Mabel and Mildred and two little boys, James and an infant babe who never knew its mother's care. She also leaves four sisters, Mrs. Amanda Kline of Searsboro, Misses Ruby and Pearl Fleener and Mrs. Sadie Oaks, Messrs. Thos., John and Samuel Fleener all of Burkmere, S. Dakota, together with a host of other relatives and friends. During her life she had often made the remark that she was not afraid to die which is certainly a great comfort to the sorrowing ones. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. M. Gregson, of Grinnell, were held from the Blue Point M.E. church Thursday, June 1st, in the presence of a large and sorrowing congregation and the body was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. The bereaved ones have the heartfelt sympathy of their many friends in their sad affliction.
