H. Benson in Polk township was the scene of an interesting event Wednesday evening when their daughter, Miss Mabel Benson, was united in marriage to Rollin Johnson. Rev. Noah of the Prairie Creek Church pronounced the wedding ceremony. One hundred and fifty guest, including relatives and friends of both families, were present to participate in the wedding festivities. Following the ceremony the company was served a three course dinner. The color scheme throughout the rooms was pink and white and a profusion of green foliage and flowers. The marriage vows were taken in the parlor beneath a beautifully decorated arch from which was suspended a wedding bell. the wedding march was played by Miss Veva Burrell. The bride's gown was a a handsome creation of white embroidered net over white mesaline and she carried bride's roses. The wedding gifts were numerous and beautiful, including china, cut glass, silver and linen. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Benson of a mile and a half north Urbana and is one of Benton county's successful school teachers. She is a young lady of pleasing personality and popular among a large circle of friends. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Johnson. Four miles west of Urbana. He is a promising young farmer and most deserving young man. Mr. and Mrs Johnson have gone to housekeeping on a farm two miles from Urbana where the best wishes of a host of friends follow them. The Times extends congratulations. From the Times news paper Mr and Mrs. Rollin Johnson celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary March 15 in the Fellowship hall of the new Christian Church on Highway 218 in West Vinton. Rites Tuesday for Mrs.Rollin Johnson Mrs. Rollin O. (Mabel) Johnson, 81 died early Saturday morning at the Virginia Gay Hospital Annex following a long illness. She was born March 19 1892 near Vinton, a daughter of Lewis and Rebecca Rambo Benson, and was married March 11 1914 near Urbana to Rollin O. Johnson. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and Cheney Club. she attended Tilford Academy and taught in Benton county schools before her marriage. Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Doris Burkhart, of Vinton and Mrs. Harold Edna Greaser of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at that Campbell Funeral Home., with the Rev. James R. Urbana, Iowa A Birthday open house was held June 10 at the home of M.r and Mrs. Wayne Burkhart, 708 E. ave. Vinton, in observance of the 90th birthday of Rolling Johnson of Vinton. Hosting the occasion will be his daughters and their families. Rolling O. Johnson, 95 died Sunday afternoon at Virginia Gay Hospital. He was a Prairie Creek farmer until 1942 when he went to work for Allis-Chalmers in Cedar Rapids. He moved to Vinton in 1959 and retired from his job in 1967. Surviors include two daughters Doris Burkhart of Vinton and Edna Greaser of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services 2 pm Wednesday at Campbell-Russell's Vinton, where friends may call, burial; Urbana Cemetery, Urbana.
