Description	:	Bernice Mae Lindgren, of Gothenburg, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege), passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Center in Gothenburg, Nebraska. Bernice was born March 4, 1921 in Fremont, Nebraska, to Adolph J. and Mary (Petersen) Bureman. Bernice received her primary education in Kearney County, Nebraska and also from Dist. #15 rural school in Phelps County, Nebraska. Read More	Bernice Mae Lindgren, of Gothenburg, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege), passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Center in Gothenburg, Nebraska. Bernice was born March 4, 1921 in Fremont, Nebraska, to Adolph J. and Mary (Petersen) Bureman. Bernice received her primary education in Kearney County, Nebraska and also from Dist. #15 rural school in Phelps County, Nebraska. Bernice then graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1939. Bernice was united in marriage to Donald Oscar Lindgren on October 27, 1944 in Phillipsburg, Kansas. To this union one daughter, Beverly Jean, was born. The couple made their home in Holdrege, where Bernice was employed by the First National Bank of Holdrege for over 37 years, where she retired as the Benefits Officer in December of 1986. It was Bernice and her husband's life goal to preserve and enrich historical artifacts and information. Together they were very dedicated and involved in the development of the Nebraska Prairie Museum in Holdrege. Her husband Donald passed away in November of 2003. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holdrege, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Nebraska State Historical Society, and she was a charter member of the Tre-Kronor Scandinavian Society. She was the Treasurer and Memorial Chairman of the Phelps county division of the American Heart Association for 25 years. In addition, she was a Charter member of the Phelps County Historical Society and served as treasurer for 28 years. Bernice found great joy in volunteering. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for over 11 years, the Phelps County Food Pantry, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She also loved doing work for the historical society, gardening, watching animals and birds, traveling, taking three-generation vacations and day trips with her family. Bernice and her husband Don were the 1989-90 Swedish Days King and Queen. She survived breast cancer, colon cancer, and skin cancer to die peacefully in her sleep. Bernice leaves to mourn her passing: daughter, Beverly Jean "Bev" and her husband, Myron "Chuck" Titkemeier of Gothenburg, Nebraska; granddaughters, Melody Titkemeier of North Platte, Nebraska and Jenna Titkemeier of Henderson, Nevada; nephews, Keith Lindgren and his wife, Donna of Manhattan, Kansas, Richard Hoogner and his wife, Elva of Santa Cruz, California; niece, Barbara Lindstrom and her husband, Don of Newnan, Georgia and a host of relatives and friends. Bernice was preceded in death by: parents; husband, Donald "Don" Lindgren and infant sister. Interment was in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, NE.
