Born on March 23, 1950, Bernice was a daughter of Robert and Norma (Covault) Clark. She married Tim C. Mahan on Aug. 30, 1969, and he preceded her in death on April 22, 2003. Bernice is survived by her mother, Norma Clark, of Rosewood; two sisters, Linda (Douglas) Foster, of Hudson, Wis., and Virginia (David) Errett, of Martinsville, Ind.; and one brother, Tom (Karen) Clark, of Rosewood. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Mary Mahan; sister in-law, Denise (Ernie) Moore; brother-in-law, Mark (Kathleen) Mahan, all of St. Paris; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Bernice was a 1968 graduate of Graham High School and received her Bachelor of Arts from Urbana College, and her Master of Education from the University of Dayton. She retired from Graham Local School District after 30 years as a science teacher, but returned to teaching science part-time at Graham High School the past two years. Bernice became a paramedic, serving on the Rosewood EMS. She also received her registered nursing degree from Edison State in 2007. Bernice was a Christian woman, who lived her faith every day. She was dedicated to her family, students and friends. Bernice was a member of the Rosewood United Methodist Church where she served on the Mission Committee and enjoyed attending Women of Faith conferences. Funeral services will be held on Saturday in the Rosewood United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Andy Leighty presiding. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the following: the Bernice Mahan Scholarship Fund, C/O First Central National Bank, 105 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, OH 43072; the Rosewood United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 102, Rosewood, OH 43070; or the Rosewood EMS, Rosewood, OH 43070. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home
