Description	:	Bernice Marie Shinn of Farmington passed away on February 9, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, at the age of 80 years. She was born on April 28, 1924, in Farmington, the daughter of the late William F. and Elizabeth (Cleve) Mell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George E. Shinn, Jr., and a brother, Francis Mell. Mrs. Shinn was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aide. She was a member and past officer of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Shinn, Jr., and a brother, Francis Mell. Mrs. Shinn was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aide. She was a member and past officer of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She worked for several years at the Trimfoot Shoe Company. Mrs. Shinn was born and raised on a farm south of Farmington in an area that was near and dear to her heart. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother that will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by three sons, Gerald Shinn and wife Jane of Jackson, Randall Shinn and wife Diane of Gordonville, MO and Gregory Shinn and wife Sally of Farmington, daughter, Joyce Johnson and husband David of Wellsville, KS, sister-in-law, Judith Mell of Farmington, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2005. A funeral service will be held Saturday at10 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Farmington with the Rev. James King and Vicar Dave Owens officiating. Burial will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Zion Church Building Fund or the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery Fund. Daily Journal Online on Feb. 10, 2005.
