Burial was at Memory Cemetery near New Market. Mrs Wilson died August 16, 1984 at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital. Berniece Petrie Wilson was born at Kent, Iowa on August 1, 1897 the daughter of Bluford and Eva Peake Petrie. She lived in the Kent and Arispie communities where she attended the public schools and the Methodist Church. On June 5, 1918 she was united in marriage to Charles George Wilson at Arispie. They made their home on a farm north of Arispie. Three children were born into this family. Later they moved to Blockton and managed a grain elevator. In 1934 they came to New Market as the owner-operators of the New Market Oil Co. Berniece managed the movie theatre for some 20 years and was the bookkeeper for the New Market Oil Company for many years. She was a member of the New Market United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and the 20th Century Club. She is survived by her husband Charles at home; son Dean of Staunton, Va; daughters Portia Pershing of New Market and Janice Kassell of Ayrshire, Ia; a brother Joe Petrie of Creston, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
