Bernita Carolyn Meier was born December 30, 1924, in Clarence, Iowa, the daughter of Arnold and Katie (Schweiter) Meier. She graduated from Clarence High School and then graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor's degree in homemaking. She was a teacher in Olin for 26 years and was also the counties representative for the Education Association. She married Morris Walker, they were blessed with 2 children, Carolyn and Morris Jr. She married Robert Pruess on August 16, 2012, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Along with teaching and traveling abroad with numerous organizations, she also enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, the Tri Sigmas, serving as president in 1992, G.F.W.C., Friendship Force of Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, Iowa Partners of the Americas, Women's Fellowship, and Tipton Lions Club. Surviving are her husband, Bob Pruess; one daughter, Carolyn (Barry) Anderson; three grandchildren, Dustin, Kirk and Clinton; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Morris Walker Sr., one son, Morris Walker Jr., and two sisters, Evelyn Fisher and Marcella Soper. Fry Funeral Home
