It was Bernt Johnson, whom all in town and vicinity knew as an upright, honest, sober man. Later he became a citizen. It was Bernt Johnson, whom all in town and vicinity knew as an upright, honest, sober man. March 30, 1904, he married Miss Mary Bouton, and it was at the home of her parents that his earth-life closed at three o'clock the afternoon of May 5, 1907, at the age of 36 years, 2 months and 26 days. He leaves a young wife and two little children. Of other relatives we do not know, as he was born February 10, 1871, at Gine, Solar, Norway. Was a member of the [R.]L.D.S. Church, being baptized at Hills, Minnesota, June 6, 1897, by Elder Eli Hayer, who had charge of the funeral at the brick church, May 7, 1907. Elder George W. Thorburn offered prayer, and Elder Robert M. Elvin pronounced the sermon from Hag. 1:5. Interment in Rosehill cemetery. William was about 20 years older. The husbands are buried in the same plot, graves 1 and 4. SOURCES: 1. Newspaper Wedding Announcement Bernt JOHNSON and Miss Mary Allie BOUTON were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. BOUTON, three miles southwest of Lamoni, Thursday, March 31, at high noon, Elder Frank WELD officiating. Immediately after the ceremony and congratulations the company, consisting of the immediate friends of the contracting parties, assembled in the dining room where a generous supply of well-prepared viands awaited them. After the feast, they reassembled in the parlors for a few hours of social enjoyment. The esteem in which the young people are held by their friends was manifested by the large display of both elegant and useful presents in evidence, all of which will add to the attraction and convenience of the happy home. The happy young couple will make their home on the Lorenzo Hayer farm northwest of town, where the best wishes of the entire community accompany them.
