He was born on November 12, 1927 in rural Defiance County to Donald M. Poth and Hazel J. (Morhart-Poth) Bostater. On December 21, 1949 Bert married Donna M. McFeters at the Chapel in the Garden in Angola, Indiana. Bert Served in Korea in the United States Army during World War II. Poth, 90, of Napoleon, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Genacross Lutheran Home, Napoleon Campus with his family by his side. He was born on November 12, 1927 in rural Defiance County to Donald M. Poth and Hazel J. (Morhart-Poth) Bostater. On December 21, 1949 Bert married Donna M. McFeters at the Chapel in the Garden in Angola, Indiana. Bert Served in Korea in the United States Army during World War II. He was a life long member of the Napoleon American Legion Post #300 and the Defiance VFW Post #3360. Bert worked many years for the Henry County Highway Department before retiring in 1990. Bert was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He found enjoyment in camping and fishing. He loved being around his family and grandchildren. Bert is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Mickey (Fred) Vold; son-in-law, Tom Rathge; grandchildren, Victor (Isabel) Vold, Heidi Pinkham, Amanda (Sean) McConnell, Nicole (Vince) Eitniear, and Nathaniel Rathge (Jessica Yates); and great grandchildren, Matthew and Kirsten Pinkham, Justin and Joseph Smith, and Hayden, Levi, Garrett, and Marshall McConnell. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Brenda Rathge, Grandson, Nicholas Rathge, and siblings Elizabeth Blosser, Ruth Bostater, and Lee Poth. Funeral Service for Bert will be Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon. Interment to follow at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance. Visitation will be Friday, September 14, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial donations in Bert’s memory are suggest to Christ United Methodist Church, the Henry County Senior Center, Genacross Lutheran Home Activities Fund, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
