He was the son of the late Dean and Maude (Mailman) Seamone. He is survived by his wife, Doris; two sons, Phillip and Paul, both at home; three brothers, Reginald, Baker Settlement; Chester, St. Margaret's Bay; and Earl, Branch LaHave. Bert's passing not only leaves a void in the family and community but a loss to his many frriends in parts of Nova Scotia and in the United States. He lived his entire life in Baker Settlement where he conducted a butchering business. He was a wonderful neighbour, always willing to help in any and all projects and was a favourite friend of the neighbour children. Active in Community work, Bert was elected to the Lunenburg Municipal Council in 1959 and served as a member of the Dawson Memorial Hospital Board, the Joint Welfare Committee and the Municipal School Board and was very active in the activities of the South Shore Exhibition. He served as director of the Exhibition since 1960 and will be remembered for his involvement with the Maritime Ox-pulling Association by ex-teamsters throughout Nova Scotia and the New England States. He was amember of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Baker Settlement, and was on the Church Council for some years. The largely attended funeral service was held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Baker Settlement, October 5 th, with Rev. James Slack officiating, assisted by Rev. Rolf Meindl. Hymns sung were "The Lord's My Shepherd" and " "Unto The Hills." Scripture was read from Romans 4: 18-25. Pallbearers were Harry Pernette, Walter Henley, Reginald Lowe, Leo Smith, Guy Norwood, and Warren Norwood. Interment was in Baker Settlement Cemetery. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
