Description	:	The Anthon Herald, Sep 1943: Following an illness of four years, Bert Dicus, 62, passed away at 6 a.m. Monday September 13, 1943, in his home at Anthon at the age of 62 years, 5 months and 23 days. Mr. Dicus suffered a stroke in September 1939, that left him speechless and his right side paralyzed. Although he later was able to walk, he never recovered from the effects of the first stroke. Early Monday morning he passed away peacefully at 6 o'clock. Bert Levi Dicus was born April 21, 1881, to George and Ida Dicus at Lucky Valley, Wolf Creek township. His entire life was spent in the Anthon vicinity with the exception of five years when he resided in Kimball, South Dakota. He was married August 20, 1902, to Florence Dice at Sioux City. This union was blessed with 13 children. Eight died in infancy and a daughter, Bernice, passed away at the age of sixteen. Mr. and Mrs. Dicus farmed during their early married life. Survivors include the widow, a son Ival of Sioux City, three daughters, Mrs. Otto (Edna) Newell of Sioux City, Mrs. Vester (Wilma) Hayworth of Anthon and Mrs. Walter (Viola) Short; three brothers, Harry of Colorado, Ivan of Illinois, Henry of Anthon, three sisters, Mrs. Alvin Parker, Mrs. Ross Lawthers of California and Mrs. Ethel Justice of Correctionville. Funeral services were held September 15, 1943 in the Anthon Methodist Church. Burial was in the Lucky Valley Cemetery under direction of Hudgel Funeral Home.
