Description	:	U.S. ARMY Bert O. Carver, 83, of Sioux City passed away Friday, April 2, 2010, at a local hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the New Life Community Nazarene Church, with the Rev. Ken Tidwell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service. Bert was born on Nov. 1, 1926, in Republic, Kan., the son of Spencer and Christina (Cordson) Carver. Bert served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949. Bert worked a few years in Idaho as a coal miner. He then moved to the Sioux City area, where he worked at Interbake Foods. Later, he was a TV repairman and until his retirement. He was in the maintenance department at Terra International. He was married to Edith Satterwhite, and they had three children, Linda, Mary and Pattie. He was later married to Joann Gruis, and they had five children, Bert, Mike, David, Kandy and JoAnne. His third wife, Wanda Hopkins died from cancer. In 1988, he was married to Viola Perkins. Bert enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting over the years. He loved his pets, Twinkles and Cricket. Bert was a member of the New Life Community Nazarene Church. Bert is survived by his children, Linda Matney of Homer, Neb., Mary (James) Nicks of South Sioux City, Pattie Swan of South Sioux City, Bert S. Carver of Sioux City, Mike W. Carver of South Sioux City, David L. (Brenda) Carver of Hinton, Iowa, Kandy (David) Taylor of Lincoln, Neb., and JoAnne Carver of Lincoln; and his stepchildren, Randy (Ronicia) McMillin of Greeley, Colo., Ray (Lina) McMillin of Sioux City, Steve Hopkins of Jefferson, S.D., Vick (Dennis) Hall of Omaha, Tammy (James) Armstrong of South Sioux City, Audrey (Kendal) Kinyon of Sergeant Bluff, Elaine (James) Tucker of Bronson, Iowa, Ralph (RaVonne) Riffey of Sioux City, and Twila (Carl) Sells of Ankeny, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; and nine great-stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Denny Carver and Tim Carver; a stepson, Rick McMillin; his third wife, Wanda, and his wife, Viola in October of 2009; one brother, Allen Carver; and two sisters, Dora Witzka and Myrtle Johnson. His pallbearers will be Paul Shaputis, Micah Riffey, Kristopher Kinyon, Clay Garrard, Shaun Anderson and D.J. Swan.
