Berten Braley King Jr. was born May 17, 1944, in Omaha, the son of Berten and Ora Faye (Gore) King. He grew up in Council Bluffs and Missouri Valley, Iowa. He attended Glenwood State School in Glenwood, Iowa. Eventually, he moved to Mapleton, where he made his home with the Randy and Cindy Jochims family. He later moved to Onawa, where he worked at Crossroads of Western Iowa until the present time. He enjoyed and was proud of his work there. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He loved his music and had a good sense of humor, being known as a jokester. Survivors include his mother, Ora Faye King of Lockesburg, Ark.; two sisters and their husbands, Kathy and Jessie Sewell of Lockesburg and Cheryle and Marty Altenbaumer of Ashdown, Ark.; two brothers and their wives, Ronnie and Sally Jo King of Lockesburg and Dale and Tracy King of Van Buren, Ark.; a very special cousin, Rick Gore and his wife, Barb of Missouri Valley, Iowa; numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews; and his extended family at Crossroads. He was preceded in death by his father.
