She died Tuesday, July 19 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Earl Moermond, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, officiated at the service. Jane McHarg, Cedar Rapids, accompanied the congregation at the organ as they sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross." The Charles Pawleks, Victor, were in charge of the flowers. Bertha Grace Case was born Jan. 4, 1899 at her grandparents' farm, north of Ladora. She was the only daughter of Charles and Mary McMillian Case. She was four when the family moved to Morgan county, Missouri. She returned to live in Iowa county in 1913. On Dec. 5, 1920 she married Carl Otto Maschmann at the parsonage of St. James Lutheran church, Victor. They farmed in Iowa county most of the time near Ladora until moving to Victor in 1967. Mrs. Maschmann had been a resident of Brookhaven nursing home, Brooklyn, since 1967. She was a member of St. James Lutheran church, Victor. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother, Russell.
