Description	:	Bertha Kretchmer was born in Germany October 12, 1887, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kretchmer. In May 1892, she came to the United States with her parents, and they settled in the Huron area. She married August C. Keehn, October 7, 1907 in Beadle Co., and they farmed. In 1924, they moved to a farm five and one-half miles northeast of Huron where Mr. Keehn burned to death in a barn fire in 1952, and Mrs. Keehn received severe burns while attempting to rescue him. In May 1892, she came to the United States with her parents, and they settled in the Huron area. She married August C. Keehn, October 7, 1907 in Beadle Co., and they farmed. In 1924, they moved to a farm five and one-half miles northeast of Huron where Mr. Keehn burned to death in a barn fire in 1952, and Mrs. Keehn received severe burns while attempting to rescue him. Following her husband's death, Bertha lived with her daughter, Mrs. Harold Kutzler, and later with Mrs. C.S. Laughlin, until illness forced her to retire. She had been a resident of the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron since December 1962 and died there September 2, 1963. Survivors include one daughter, Mildred, Mrs. Harold Kutzler, Huron; three grandchildren, Dorothy, Mrs. Kaehl Volesky, Watertown; Gerald and Dolores Kutzler, Huron; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, August. Frank, Paul, and Anton Kretchmer, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Rother. - - - - Funeral: First Baptist church. Officiating: Rev. Jhn Davey.
