Friday, December 13, 2013, at High Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 1176 E. Myrtle Beach Highway, Scranton. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. Melton was born September 13, 1920, in Lexington, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Julian Robert Hutchinson and Ida Link Hutchinson. Mrs. Melton was born September 13, 1920, in Lexington, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Julian Robert Hutchinson and Ida Link Hutchinson. She retired from Wentworth Manufacturing Company of Lake City. Mrs. Melton was a member of High Hill Free Will Baptist Church where she formerly served as a Sunday School teacher and president of the Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her children, Gerry Gaskins of Spartanburg, Dexter Melton of Coward, Nan M. (Jim) Thomas of Coward and Amelia M. (Jimmy) Lynch of Scranton; grandchildren, Karen (Stuart) Williams, Jan (Carla) Gaskins, Kevin Lynch, Kyle (Veronica) Lynch, Nicole (Michael) Parkman and Nathan Melton; five great, grandchildren; and brother, Elmer Hutchinson of Summerville. Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by a son, John Melton; brothers, Fred Hutchinson, Edward Hutchinson, Clyde Hutchinson and Ernest Hutchinson; sister, Mary Matthews and son-in-law, Donald Gaskins. Memorials may be made to High Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o of Tommy Knotts, P. O. Box 193, Scranton, SC 29591. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Albert Mims and his staff, Agape Hospice Staff, caregivers, Ashley Nettles, Cindy Locklair, Cassandra Hanna and special friends, Mary Godwin and Patsy Daniels, for their care and concern for Mrs. Melton and her family during this time.
