Bertha Irene Darrow was born April 13, 1925 in Fairview Township, Jones County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Justus and Rienelt Harms, Darrow. Betty graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools with the class of 1942. She later worked at the Reliance Shirt Factory in Anamosa. Betty Darrow and Alvin Weers were married on April 17, 1945 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa. The couple farmed on the Weers family farm near Center Junction. Following Alvin's death, in August of 1977, Betty moved to Anamosa in 1979. She worked part-time at the Anamosa Public Library. In 2005 her health caused her to move to the Anamosa Care Center. She was a member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church and had belonged to the Paint and Pallet Club in Anamosa.
