Description	:	Mrs. Bertha Janet Vest Herron, 99, a resident of Belington, departed this life early Friday morning, July 15, 2016, at the home of her daughter, Dottie Carpenter, following a period of declining health. She was born June 28, 1917, at the Zebbs Creek community near Belington, a daughter of the late Martin and Flora Swick Vest. Read More	Mrs. Bertha Janet Vest Herron, 99, a resident of Belington, departed this life early Friday morning, July 15, 2016, at the home of her daughter, Dottie Carpenter, following a period of declining health. She was born June 28, 1917, at the Zebbs Creek community near Belington, a daughter of the late Martin and Flora Swick Vest. On Feb. 1, 1933, she was united in marriage to the late Delbert Lee Herron, who preceded her in Dec. 12, 1977. She is survived by one son, Russell E. Herron of Belington; three daughters, Dottie Carpenter of Belington, with whom she made her home, Karen Carpenter and husband, Larry, of Belington and Janet K. Hoffman and husband, Gary, of Belington; and 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Harold Lee Herron, Eugene Delbert Herron and Larry J. Herron; two daughters, Donna June Herron and Maxine Pearl Ricottilli; and siblings, Elmer and Jacob Vest, an infant sister and an infant brother. Also preceding her in death were a grandson, Benny Herron; one great-grandson, Gary Lee Herron Jr.; and one great-great-grandson, Gavin Herron. Mrs. Herron was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Laurel Mountain Post 410 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed the cabin at Zebbs Creek, which stands at her dear home place. She was a Protestant by faith. Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg St, in Belington from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and again Wednesday, July 20, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the funeral hour, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Cemetery near Belington.
