Description	:	Bertha Louise Latham Kiser, 83, of Anacortes, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Mountain View Adult Family Home in Anacortes. She was born the fifth of six children, on January 26, 1925 in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, to John Oren and Alice (Vanover) Latham. Bertha attended grade school in Utopia, Bow, and Central Grade School in Sedro-Woolley and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1944. ] Following graduation, she was employed at Bingham Investment Company and later at Northern State Hospital where she worked in the Accounting Office and Business Office for 23 years. Bertha moved to Las Vegas and married Dean Kiser, where they lived for a short while before moving to Carson City, NV. In Carson City, Bertha worked for the Industrial Commission for the State of Nevada. Bertha and Dean returned to the State of Washington, specifically, Olympia, where she went to work for the state for 7 years to complete her 30 years of service for retirement. Upon retiring Bertha and Dean spent time traveling and for three summers were employed at Yellowstone National Park. Bertha was a member of the Lutheran Church in Lacy, WA. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean; two brothers; and a sister. She is survived by five stepchildren, Richard and Kevin Kiser, Terry and Sandy Kiser, Mark and Mary Kiser, Mark and Sherri Tibbles, all of Anacortes, and Steve and Donna Kiser of Arizona; 23 stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; sister, Mearle Hunter, of CA; brother, Wayne Latham, of Puyallup, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside inurnment will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, September 12, 2008 at the Burlington Greenhills Memorial Cemetery Columbarium, 11157 Gardner Road, Burlington, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society, American Cancer Society, or a charity of choice. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.
