She was united in marriage to Lewis Kerchner, December 12, 1900 in Portsmouth, Iowa and to this union were born five children. She was united in marriage to Lewis Kerchner, December 12, 1900 in Portsmouth, Iowa and to this union were born five children. She, together with her husband and children, came to Colorado in 1919, settling in Phillips County, which has been the home since that time. Answering the call of the Master, she became a member of the Church early in life and at the time of her passing was a member of the First Methodist Church in Holyoke, Colorado. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. As well, Mrs. Kerchner had been a teacher, a task she enjoyed to the fullest, and to which she gave her best talents. She taught one year in Iowa, two years in Nebraska and fourteen years in Colorado. Preceding her in death was her loving husband, Lewis Kerchner, who passed away in 1937, one sister, Mrs. Ida Cooper, and two brothers, James and Arthur Graybill. Left to mourn the passing of this loved one are: Three sisters, Mrs. Lillie Collyar, San Diego, California; Mrs. Edith Allison, Elgin, Nebraska; and Mrs. Nina Peterson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her five* children: Mrs. Litta Hansen, and Mrs. Frances Runge of Holyoke, Colorado and Private Donald A. Kerchner and Lt. Harold L. Kerchner, both overseas, serving with the United States Army. Also, six grandchildren and one great grandchild as well as innumerable other relatives and friends. * No information given on the fifth child.
