Nielsen, was born on June 30, 1864 in Reba, Denmark and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs Gilbert Muller on August 9, 1952, at the ageo of 88 years, 1 month and 10 days. The Nielsen family made their home in the Defiance vicinity for many years. About 8 years ago Mrs Nielsen moved to Harlan where she made her home with her daughter, Mrs Etta Jensen. She enjoyed fairly good health until she suffered a heart attack shortly before her death. She is survived by her two sons, Elnar of Harlan and Alfred of Defiance, two daughters, Mrs Rose (Gilbert) Miller of Defiance and Etta Jensen of Harlan. Preceding her in death was her husband and a daughter, Anna. Funeral services were held for Bertha from the Immanuel Lutheran church at Harlan, Tuesday afternoon August 12. The Rev. S.S. Kaldahl officiated. Pallbearers were; Lester Meyers, Lou Ahrenholtz, Wesley Hulsebus, Julius Jensen, Herman Nielsen and Peter Kjeldgaard. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery.
