Description	:	Bertha Marie Crater was born January 1, 1924 in Douglas County to Gustave and Minnie (Blume) Prien. She grew up attending Pleasant Lake Country School. On July 12, 1950 she married Harold Crater at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney. They resided in the Stickney, Winner and Plankinton areas until moving back to Stickney in 1968. While living in Winner and Plankinton she was involved in cleaning poultry and pheasants. In October of 2007 she moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Corsica. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting.... Read More	Bertha Marie Crater was born January 1, 1924 in Douglas County to Gustave and Minnie (Blume) Prien. She grew up attending Pleasant Lake Country School. On July 12, 1950 she married Harold Crater at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney. They resided in the Stickney, Winner and Plankinton areas until moving back to Stickney in 1968. While living in Winner and Plankinton she was involved in cleaning poultry and pheasants. In October of 2007 she moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Corsica. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many other relatives and friends. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the WELCA women's church group. She is survived by her husband, Harold; her daughter, Connie Graves and husband, Russell of Ethan, SD; two sons: Richard Crater and wife, Sheila of Stickney, SD and John Crater of Ethan, SD; two sisters: Esther Simpson and husband, John of Cle Elum, WA and Mabel Schmit of Winner, SD; three brothers: Norman Prien of Mitchell, SD, Elmer Prien and wife, Marian of Crossville, TN, and Raymond Prien and wife, Eleanor of Stickney, SD; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Marie Crater and Agnes Prien and two brothers: Frederick and Walter.
