Read More	Corydon Times Republican Thursday, Feb. 21, 1946 Mrs. Joe Moorman Succumbs to Stroke Mrs. Joe Moorman, 60, died at her home in Harvard Wednesday, Feb. 13, following a short illness. She had been ill for the past three weeks with the flu but seemed much better until Monday of last week when she suffered a stroke. She never regained consciousness, and passed away about 10:30 Wednesday. Bertha Olive Stroud was born near Harvard, Iowa, on Nov. 25, 1885 and passed away at her home in Harvard, Feb. 13, 1946, at the age of 60 years, 2 months and 18 days. She was the ninth of eleven children born to George W. and Mary E. Shanks Stroud. Three half brothers, Elmer, William and Charles Stroud now deceased, also were a part of this household. Of her ten brothers and sisters, a brother, Orval, a sister Mrs. Will Jump and four infant brothers have preceded her in death. Mrs. Ben Snider of Promise City, Mrs. Francis Daily of Cincinnati, Fred of Woodward and Arthur of Cincinnati are the only surviving members of the family of fourteen children. Both father and mother died many years ago. On Dec. 31. 1908 she was married to Joe N. Moorman and to this union five children were born. Three have passed on, two in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Goldie Teter on Aug. 23, 1941. Besides her husband and two daughters, Mrs. George Morris of Des Moines and Sylvia of the home, she is survived by two sons-in-laws, George Morris and Henry Teter, three grandchildren, Jo Ann, Dean and Don Morris; two brothers and two sisters; one aunt, Mrs. Lidia Zimmerman and uncle Bill Shanks of Corydon, a number of nieces and nephews and her many friends. In early life she united with the Methodist church in Harvard. She was a faithful member of the Garden club of the Harvard community. She loved to work among her flowers and greatly enjoyed giving her finest blossoms to the neighbor or friend. She will be missed very much in the home and by her friends. Funeral services were held from the Liggett funeral home in Seymour on Friday, Feb. 15, 1946, conducted by Rev. W.m Cleeton of Seymour. Those bringing comfort in songs were Mrs. Myrna Voyce, and Mrs. Fern Norris with Mrs. Irene McNabb at the piano. The songs were "When We Hear Those Golden Bells Ringing For You and Me." "Going Down the Valley One by One" and "The Sweet Bye and Bye." The pall bearers were Billy Moorman, Merle Stroud, Alva Snider, Bobby Daily, Wesley Stroud and Homer Stroud. Burial was in the family plot at the Shriver cemetery near Harvard.
