Fissel, wife of P.T. Fissel, residing at 19 Third Avenue S.W. died yesterday morning about five o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. George Diediker in Leeds, following a brief illness. Mrs. Fissel went to Leeds a week ago to visit her sister and at that time was apparently in the best of health and spirits. On Tuesday morning at the breakfast table while planning with her sister to go in the country and visit other relatives, she suddenly became ill and complained of dizziness. Following the attack she never fully regained consciousness and expired on Monday morning. Her death came as a great shock to her husband, relatives and many friends. Mrs. Fissel was a woman of great charm and was greatly beloved in a large circle of friends. She was a member of one of the pioneer families of Plymouth county. Her maiden name was Bertha Rademacher and she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs John Rademacher, who were among the first settlers in Hungerford township. Mrs. Fissel was born in Clayton county on May 1, 1861, and when a child of five years of age her parents migrated to Plymouth county from eastern Iowa. They made the trip across the state with wagons drawn by oxen and the journey in those days took three weeks, as the mode of progression was slow, and many streams had to be forded. Mrs Fissel was brought up among pioneer scenes and helped in the general work incumbent on the early settler and obtained her education in the old fashioned school house. In 1881 she was united in marriage with Peter T. Fissel and two years after their marriage they moved onto a homestead in Dakota which then was still a territory. They improved the homestead and converted (unreadable passage) moved to the town of Emery, S.D., where Mr. Fissel conducted a hardware store and became a successful merchant and leading citizen of that place. After a residence there of nearly a quarter of a century, Mr. Fissel disposed of his business and in 1911 they moved back to Plymouth county and took up their residence in Le Mars which has been their home since. Mrs. Fissel was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran church and was also a member of the Rebecka Lodge of this city. She was active in the works of the church and in its kindred societies. She was a devoted wife and homemaker and spent her life in useful work and in doing good whenever an opportunity presented. She is survived by her husband, P.T. Fissel, and Mrs. Eva Ryan, of Molt, Montana, a daughter whom she adopted in infancy and on whom she lavished a mother's affection, and the latter's son, Bertram Heckenliable, whom has made his home with the Fissels for many years. She also leaves two sisters and five brothers who are Mrs. Adolph Diener, of Emery, S.D., Mrs. Geo. Diediker, of Leeds, Henry Rademacher, of Acton, Montana, Martin Rademacher, of Acton, Montana, Otto Rademacher, of Acton, Montana, Louis Rademacher, of Acton, Montana, and Walter Rademacher, of Bowdle, S.D. The funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. John's Evangelical church, Rev. P.C. Kehle officiating."
