Description	:	Bertha Conner, 97, Bismarck, formerly of Dodge, peacefully entered into rest on Jan. 10, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Dave Swonger officiating. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. CST at Spring Creek Cemetery, southeast of Dodge. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Bertha was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Dodge, to Ferdinand and Marie (Weidenmeyer) Specht. Bertha married Russell Conner on April 2, 1939. They lived in Ada, Minn., for a while and from there they moved to Dodge, then to Fairview, Mont., then back to Dodge. After Russell passed away, she remained in Dodge for several years and then moved to Bismarck. After living in Bismarck for quite some time, along with her daughter, Glenda, she became unable to care for herself and Glenda and entered into residency at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home of Bismarck. Bertha operated three different restaurants and was a cook and librarian at the Dodge Public School. Bertha enjoyed little children, crocheting, crafts, cooking, cards and games. Bertha was very social and made many life-long friends easily and loved visiting with and spoiling her grandchildren. Bertha is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Clem) Thomas, Bismarck, Shirley (Calvin) Wallin, Nisswa, Minn., and Glenda Conner, Bismarck; her sons, Jerome (Chery) Conner, Hazen, and Curt (Lisa) Conner, Bismarck; 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Alma (Ervin) Specht, Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her sons, Veril, Fred, Richard and Roger; her parents, Ferdinand and Marie Specht; all of her brothers, Henry, Walter, Arnold, Herbert, Jake, Otto and Ervin; and all of her sisters, Della White, Lorraine Brickhandler, Ester Reger, Ruth Stuhmiller and Wyonna Miller.
