Description	:	Mrs. Bertha Tank Tesch was born Dec. 23, 1855 in Dresow, Pommerania, Germany where a few days after her birth she received the sacrament of holy baptism. At the age of 14 she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith to which she remained true until God took her out of this vale of tears to himself in heaven. Read More	Mrs. Bertha Tank Tesch was born Dec. 23, 1855 in Dresow, Pommerania, Germany where a few days after her birth she received the sacrament of holy baptism. At the age of 14 she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith to which she remained true until God took her out of this vale of tears to himself in heaven. Dec. 8, 1876, while yet in Germany, she was united in marriage to Albert Tesch who preceeded her in death 14 years ago. To this happy union were born six children; three sons, Henry, Frank and Robert all of Waubay and three daughters; Mrs. Max Leidtke, Mrs. Chas. Forbish and Mrs. Henry Hilmer of Magrath, Alberta, Canada. In 1880 they came to America and settled at Appleton, Wisc., where they resided for three years, when they moved to Britton. At this place they resided until 1897, when they moved on a farm three miles east of Waubay. In 1909 Mr. and Mrs. Tesch retired from the farm and moved to Waubay where she resided until her death. Last November she and her daughter Mrs. Max. Leidtke went to Magrath, Alberta, Can., to spend the winter with her daughter Mrs. Hilmer, intending to return to Waubay in March. On Feb. 9 she became suddenly ill and three days later was taken to the hospital at Lethbridge where she was operated on for cancer. On Wednesday, Feb. 16 she fell asleep and we firmly believe entered those mansions above, prepared for them that love God. Besides her six children she leaves one adopted daughter, Mrs. Ruth Rathbun, two brothers Frank Tank of Britton and Henry Tank of Toma, Wis. and one sister Mrs. Fred Berger of Britton, nine grandchildren and great-grand child. Funeral services were held at the German Lutheran church Monday afternoon, Rev. J. E. Schwarting officiating. The church was crowded to the doors with sorrowing friends who came from far and near to pay their last silent tribute to a departed friend. The large attendance, the many beautiful flowers and the deep grief of all were testimonies of the high esteem in which she was held in the community. She was laid to rest in Lakewood cemetery.
