Miss Ila Patschke sang "In The Garden" and "On Higher Ground." Pallbearers were Martin Nedrow, Donald Patschke, Marvin Nielson, and Paul Zingula. Interement was made in Oak Shade cemetery. Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Tudeen of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tudeen of Dumont, Mr. and Mrs. John Baker and Daughter, Mrs. Claus Miller, and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Daniels, all of Green Island; Mr. and Mrs. William Kelster of Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Campbell, and Mr. and Mrs. Merle Campbell of Paralta. Bertha Tudeen was born in Madrid, Oct. 21, 1910, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tudeen. Nineteen years ago she came to Marion with her parents, and attended the Marion schools, graduating with the class of 1929. After living in Chicago for a year, she was married on Sept. 3, 1930, to Alworth Baker, of Paralta, and had lived in Marion about a year. She was a sweet and lovely girl, very popular with her acquaintances, and her untimely death is mourned by a host of friends. She is survived by her husband, Alworth Baker; her father, Frank Tudeen of Dumont; five sisters and three brothers; Mrs. Blanche Lochner, Mrs. Clifford Burns, and Bernard Tudeen of Marion; Roy Tudeen of Chicago; Mrs. Viva Zingula of Mount Vernon; Mrs. Ellen Klopp and Mrs. Irene Nedrow of Cedar Rapids, and Verne Tudeen of Marion. Mrs. Baker was assisting with the work at the home of her brother, Bernard Tudeen, Thursday, and when the kitchen fire lagged she threw kerosene upon the coals. An explosion resulted which threw flaming kerosene over her clothing and hair. Panic-stricken, she ran out into the yard and was fatally burned before members of the family could assist her. She was taken to the home of her sister, and from there was taken to the hospital, where she died the next day."
