As Bertha Wilhelmina Elizabeth Schultz, she was born March 5, 1884, the daughter of John Schultz and his wife Minnie nee Schrader in Hartford township southeast of Victor, Iowa. In early infancy she was baptized in St. John's Lutheran church south of Victor and in the same church in 1898 she renewed her baptismal vow in the rite of confirmation under the Rev. Otto Kitzmann. On March 15, 1904 Bertha Schultz was united in marriage with Charles F. Wiedemeier in the parental Schultz home southeast of Victor. This union was blessed with five children. Mr. and Mrs. Wiedemeier lived most of their married life on the same farm 5 1/2 miles southeast of Victor until about four years ago, when they moved to their present home in Victor. After transferring their membership from St. John's Lutheran church, Mr. and Mrs. Wiedemeier became charter members of the newly organized St. James Lutheran church in Victor and have been members of this church since that time in 1914. Mrs. Wiedemeier was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two grandchilden. She is survived by her husband Charles F. Wiedemeier; her five children: Viola, Mrs. Henry F. Schultz of Grand Rapids, MI., Irene, Mrs. Arnold Koehn of Marengo, Iowa, Mildred, Mrs. Irvin Gressley, Milford, Iowa, Carl and Vernon, Ladora, Iowa; also ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Schultz and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Wiedemeier and Mrs. Martha Schultz and many other relatives and friends. A brief service at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the McAninch Funeral home was followed by services at 1:30 in St. James Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. C. H. Schroder, Mrs. Richard Bowman, Mrs. Cloyd Lyman and Mrs. Herbert Neuhaus sang "Rock of Ages" and "This Body In the Grave We Lay," accompanied by the organist, Mrs. George Keller.
