Description	:	Bertie T. Sewell passed away May 22, 2011 in Felton, DE. Mrs. Sewell was born in Laurens County, SC, on October 21, 1909, daughter of the late W. A. and Alice Tumblin. Her husband, R. T. Sewell, Sr. passed away in August 1984. Although she lived in Delaware, she retained her ties to the local community. She maintained her membership in the Mauldin First Baptist Church which she and her husband joined when they moved to Mauldin in 1965. Mrs. Sewell was born in Laurens County, SC, on October 21, 1909, daughter of the late W. A. and Alice Tumblin. Her husband, R. T. Sewell, Sr. passed away in August 1984. Although she lived in Delaware, she retained her ties to the local community. She maintained her membership in the Mauldin First Baptist Church which she and her husband joined when they moved to Mauldin in 1965. She had the distinction of being the oldest member of that congregation. Mrs. Sewell was for many years the office manager and bookkeeper for Leake Brothers Dairy. She retired shortly after her marriage in 1965 and she and her husband enjoyed extensive and frequent traveling. She was a member of many organizations in Greenville but the one from which she derived the most pleasure was The Southernettes Club whose members were wives of Norfolk & Southern Railroad executives. She held several offices in the organization. She was the last member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by her parents, as well as two sisters, Marie Tumblin and Cora Goff, and six brothers, Talmadge, C. P., Willie, Haskell, Herman, and Raymond Tumblin. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (William) Palmisano of Felton, DE and step-son, Robert T. Sewell, Jr. of Washington State; 3 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren
