Read More	Bertram is the son of Perry Decatur & Altha Pearl (Kite) Kite. He married Edith Arbutus Dovel on June 14, 1941. Obituary: Bertram Wilson Kite, Sr., 88, of Shenandoah died Thursday, October 13, 2005, at MontVue in Luray. Mr. Kite was born June 21, 1917, and was the son of the late Perry Decatur and Altha Pearl Kite. On June 14, 1941, he married Edith Arbutus Dovel, who survives. Mr. Kite was a farmer who lived his entire life on his ancestral farm. The farm was recognized several years ago as a Century Old Farm, but in fact many land tracts of the present farm have actually been in the family almost 200 years. He loved his farm and was well known for his exceptional and innovative farm practices. He was a past board member of Southern States and Page County Farm Bureau Federation and served on numerous ad hoc committees. In 2002, he was the recipient of the Agriculture Award sponsored by the Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce. His roots were deeply embedded in the Grove Hill Community. His family has worshipped at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Grove Hill since the l780s. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a past Chairman of the Church Council. In 1963, Mr. Kite generously donated the land for the present Grove Hill Community Center. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. He was easily engaged in conversation on family history, genealogy and was a student of Civil War history. He was a great role model and instilled in his children and grandchildren a sense of purpose. His children are: Bertram W. Kite, Jr, and wife, Leisa; Sharon Louderback and husband, Harry; Carolyn Kyger of Shenandoah; Pauletta Lockridge and husband, Mason; Nancy Racer and husband, Earl "Rock" of Luray; Patricia Simons and husband, Jon of Reston. He is survived by a sister, Rozelle K. Hott of Shenandoah; niece, Vonna Hott of Shenandoah; and nephew, Hoye Hott of Louisa. His grandchildren are Dianna L. Kieler of Chantilly; Jamey Hansbrough of Elkton; H. F. Louderback of Springfield; Michael Hansbrough of Medina, Tenn., Brett Kite, Bart Kite, and John Bertram Green of Blacksburg; Major Jared Hansbrough of San Diego, Calif.; Ian Racer of Rileyville; Catherine R. Stewart of Luray; Stephen Green of Sutherland; and Paula G. Weddle of Radford and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Lynwood Lee and son-in-law, Warren G. Kyger, Jr. Pastor Jeffrey Marble will conduct the service at St. Paul Lutheran Church 3 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2005 with burial following in the church cemetery.
