The Boothby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He was born Aug. 31,1898 at Washta to John J. and Jennie Keck Williams. He graduated from Washta High School in 1918. He attended business college in Sioux City. He was married to Lura Fogleman on June 24, 1920 at Washta. He had resided in the Country Side Estates in Cherokee the past four years. Prior to this he had been a resident of Washta most of his life. He owned and operated the Standard Oil Service Station for many years. He also was publisher of the Washta Journal and later the Reminder in Washta. He was a member of the Washta United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Washta, and for many years, took the official readings of temperature and rainfall for the town of Washta. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on June 27, 1951, and two sisters, Floy Deming and Alta Rumbaugh. He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Roberta and Lloyd Boothby of Holstein, and June and Stephen Shatka of Sioux City; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Feddersen of Armstrong, and Mrs. Wilda Holmes of Polk, Neb.
