Louise was born in De Forest, Wis., Nov. 15, 1917, and raised on a ranch in Powderville. In 1938, she married William Fair in Miles City, where they lived until moving to Billings in 1943. Louise was a very strong and independent person, even as a child. She raised her first four children by herself during World War II while her husband served for a lengthy period in the U.S. Navy. During that time, she helped support her family by working in a laundry and meat packing plant. Louise saved enough money during World War II to purchase a home on Lockwood Flats for her husband and family. After World War II, she continued to work even with seven children. Louise's two main interests in life were her family and her job. That is what kept her going for so many years. Louise was always involved in her children's lives. She provided for them the very best she could. She motivated her children to do the best they could do and be the very best they could be at whatever they did. She instilled a self-pride in them. Louise constantly reminded them that they could do anything they wanted to do and become anything they wanted to be, if they just set their minds to it. She was a tremendous mother. Louise always had an open door for kids who were having a difficult time, especially during their teenage years. She provided a lot of love, support and shelter for many of those teenagers. Her home was always open to friends and visitors. Anyone could stop by at anytime without notice. Louise was adventurous. If she wanted to do something, she did it. When Louise was in her mid-50s she embarked on a new career in real estate sales. At that age, when most people are planning their retirement, she was planning a new career. She sold real estate for the next 20 years working for several offices in Billings. It was one of her true loves. Louise retired in 1992 and moved to Moses Lake, Wash. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her sister Hazel Gerner; granddaughter Tamara Kapalczynski; and son-in-law Mark Simonson. Louise is survived by her seven children, D'Arlyn Kapalczynski of Homewood, Ill., Gary (Sue) Fair of Olympia, Wash., Roger Fair of Moses Lake, Wash., Ruth Simonson of Boise, Idaho., Phyllis (Jim) Beaton of Billings, Lonny Fair of Mount Vernon, Wash., and LeMoyne (Bill) Bamey of Missoula; her 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Just two short weeks ago, Mom returned home to her beloved Montana. This Friday, she will be laid to rest beside her husband, William Fair. They have waited 37 years to be reunited. We know she is now in Heaven for she was truly a remarkable and wonderful wife, mother and woman. Thank you, Mom, for everything. We are so happy you finally made it back home to Montana even for a short stay; but now you moved on to even a better place. We are so proud of you and love you very much. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
