She suffered the injury in a fall at her home. Surviving are a daugter, Edith RICE, Waukegan, Ill.; two sons, George HURST, Tucson, Ariz., and John HURST, Indianapolis, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Arnie FISHER, Denver, Ind. The body is at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. ----- Published in The Rochester News-Sentinel Saturday, October 1, 1955 Bessie O'Daffer Mrs. Bessie (DAWSON) HURST O'DAFFER, 74, Macy, died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday in Woodlawn hospital where she had been a patient since Sept. 17. Practically all her life had been spent in Rochester and Macy with the exception of eight years in Chicago. Mrs. O'Daffer was a sister of the late George V. DAWSON of this city. Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. tody at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home, with the Rev. Richard MITCHELL officiating. Burial ws made in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery. She was born July 25, 1881, in Rochester to Jonathan and Isabelle (WALLACE) DAWSON, and in 1901 she was married to Ira HURST, who died in 1912. In 1936 she married Ray O'DAFFER, who preceded her in death in 1939. Mrs. O'Daffer was a member of the Macy Christian church. Survivors are a daughter, Edith RICE, Waukegan, Ill.; two sons, George HURST, Tucson, Ariz., and Jonathan HURST, Indianapolis; a step-daughter, Mrs. Arnie FISHER, Denver, Ind., and a step-son, Devane O'DAFFER, South Bend. SOURCE: Fulton County Indiana Obituaries - 1955 by Jean C. and Wendell C. Tombaugh Bessie was not the daughter of Jonathan Dawson and Isabella King. At the age of 3 she was brought to them and they raised her as a their foster daughter. She named her son after him so their influence and love was not unappreciated but those searching for her heritage are not related by blood to the Dawson line. Research will show that she signed forms sometimes as a Resler, Reasler or Wrestler. As of now, her family is unknown.
