She died May 31, 1952, at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 22 days. Mrs. Forbes' death came as the result of a heart attack. At the time of her death she was at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harley L. Kinney, of Ottumwa. On March 17, 1901, she was united in marriage with Benjamin F. FORBES Bessie Ellen White Forbes, the daughter of Ira and Matilda Stevenson White, was born near Selma on June 9, 1882. She died May 31, 1952, at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 22 days. Mrs. Forbes' death came as the result of a heart attack. At the time of her death she was at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harley L. Kinney, of Ottumwa. On March 17, 1901, she was united in marriage with Benjamin F. Forbes at the home of her parents near Keosauqua. To this union was born five sons and two daughters, all of whom survive. The couple lived in the Irish Bend community and Keosauqua until 1946 when they moved to Aurelia, Ia. As a girl she joined the Methodist church and continued to be as active in church work and continued to be as active in church work as family duties and health would permit. She was a life member of the American Legio nauxiliary. She is survived by her husband and seven children: Donald W. of Shell Rock; Richard W. of Sibley; Ray O. of Lake Park; Ruth (Mrs. Harley Kinney) of Ottumwa; Robert S. of Aurelia; Esther (Mrs. Horton Proctor) of Mt. Pleasant, all in Iowa, and Joseph B. of Salt Lake City, Utah; two brothers: Alfred White of Mt. Pleasant and Fred R. White of Ames; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C.H. Orf of Carroll, assisted by the Rev. Burton C. Bastuscheck, at the Keosauqua Methodist church on Tuesday afternoon, Burial was at the Forbes cemetery north of Keosauqua. Source: Van Buren Co.
