Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday February 18, 2011, in the Grover United Methodist Church with Reverends David Fields and Fred Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Utsey Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Murray, Ernest Jackson, Lynn Westbury, Keith Riley, Elton Garris, and Jimmy Risher. Mrs. Bessie Evelyn was born October 17, 1913, in Reevesville a daughter of the late Daniel Murray Hutto and Elizabeth Amanda Marcena Reeves Hutto. She loved her family, her church and community, and had a long, happy life in the Grover community. After growing up in the Reevesville area, helping her mother and four brothers with the farm, she came to Grover in 1940 as the bride of Willard Shieder, where they enjoyed 52 years of marriage before Willard's death in 1993. She was his best friend and helpmate as they raised two sons and continued farming with her right by his side. She was a devoted mother, grandmother of seven and great-grandmother to eleven. Bessie Evelyn enjoyed her church, friends and community but especially enjoyed working outdoors-continuing to operate her own riding mower cutting her grass until her 97th year. She was a member of Grover United Methodist Church and the Grover UMW for many years. She was the oldest member and attended regularly until this recent illness; she will be missed by those she called to check on when they were sick or not in church. While she will be missed, her family and friends have a treasure of memories of a very loving and special lady. Surviving are two sons; James Willard (Mevelyn) Shieder, Grover, SC and Charles Lynwood Shieder (Vonnie), St.George, SC; a brother, Daniel C. (Sarah) Hutto, Columbia, TN; Grandchildren, Hallie (Dustin) Austin, Pinopolis, Jodie (Lee) Buford, Greenville; Kerrie (Jimmy) Mitchum, Summerville; Jamie (Lee) Stroble, St. George; Brandy (Charles) Kirkland, St. George; Tiffany Shieder, Columbia; and Chase Shieder, St. George; great-grandchildren, Taylor Westbury, Rachel Westbury, Dylan Austin, Hannah Buford, Sarah Buford, J Mitchum, Ben Mitchum, Kaitlin Stroble, Megan Stroble, Alex Kirkland, and Jillian Kirkland, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by brothers: Louis Hutto, D.M. Hutto , and Fletcher Hutto Published in Charleston Post & Courier on February 17, 2011
