Church, Thursday afternoon, October 1, 1903, Bessie, wife of Fred , aged 26 years, one month and 17 days. Bessie Helen Barnes was born August 14th, 1867, and had resided in and around Eddyville since childhood. She was United in marriage to Fred Emanuel on August 26, 1867. To this union was born one child - a daughter Opal Pearl, aged eight months, who with her husband, the parents, one sister, Mrs. Bert Emanuel of Cedar, and two brothers, William and Jesse H.... Church, Thursday afternoon, October 1, 1903, Bessie, wife of Fred , aged 26 years, one month and 17 days. Bessie Helen Barnes was born August 14th, 1867, and had resided in and around Eddyville since childhood. She was United in marriage to Fred Emanuel on August 26, 1867. To this union was born one child - a daughter Opal Pearl, aged eight months, who with her husband, the parents, one sister, Mrs. Bert Emanuel of Cedar, and two brothers, William and Jesse H. remain to mourn. She and her brother, Jessie, were twins, and they are said to have suffered an attack of spinal trouble with about six years old, which rendered her brother death and dumb, and, we understand, also affected her hearing. Just after the flood of last summer she became ill and Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel moved from Eddyville to the parental Barnes home to have assistance in caring for her. Her case continued to grow worse and developed into consumption. The baby will be cared for at the home of Mr. Emanuel's parents Mr. and Mrs. Sack Emanuel. The funeral was held from her parents residence Friday afternoon at one o'clock. C.A. DeTar of Grays Creek, conducted short services, and burial was made in Highland.
