Description	:	Bessie Johnson Stewart, 95, widow of Walker Poole Stewart, of 1574 Old Buncombe Road, died Jan. 13, 2003, in Wallace Thomson Hospital at 9:15 p.m. Mrs. Stewart was born in Woodruff on July 7, 1907, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Ellen Chumley Johnson. She was a member of Padgett's Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lucille S. and J. Edward Craig of Union and Bessie S. and William O. Malpass of Charleston; two sisters, Nancy J. Lamb of Cross Anchor and Carrie J. Kingsmore of Baltimore, Md.; two granddaughters, Melissa Faye Schoeffel and Teresa M. Hoffbert both of Charleston; and a great-granddaughter, Katie Stewart Schoeffel of Charleston. Mrs. Stewart was predeceased by two sisters and a brother, Electa J. Burnett, Maude J. Bishop and Sam Johnson. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Padgett's Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Keith Andrews and Rev. Melvin Hudson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7-9 and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Thursday to await the hour of service.
