Born October 7, 1917 in Yarmouth, she was the second child of ten, born to the late Benjamin and Winnifred (Troop) Wetmore. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a dear friend to many. Read More	CHURCHILL (WETMORE) , Bessie Louise Troop – 93, of Tidal View Manor in Yarmouth, passed away April 26, 2011, at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born October 7, 1917 in Yarmouth, she was the second child of ten, born to the late Benjamin and Winnifred (Troop) Wetmore. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a dear friend to many. She had a full life of simple pleasures. The presence of God, family and friends. She was a member of Port Maitland Wesleyan Church, where she often taught Sunday school classes. Her early education was in one room rural schools, finishing off grade twelve at Yarmouth Academy. The following years, she graduated from Normal College and taught school in many districts. She taught school for 20+ years. This was terminated by a brain tumor operation when she was 39. The operation left her unable to continue teaching. She was a great gardener with a profound love of plants and all growing things. In addition to caring for her own beautiful flower beds, she accomplished much on community properties. She was always interested in sewing and finished scores of quilts. These were given as gifts or sold to tourists; with fond memories we shall remember the paratroop quilt. She donated four quilts to non-profit organizations, used as fundraisers. She also helped with nine quilts given to the Hospital Hullabaloo. She helped Atlantic Tours organize many tours for seniors. During this time she travelled a great deal. The family went on two trips to Holland and to many places in Canada and the United States. She was an avid reader and enjoyed genealogy, researching the history of many related families. She also completed the history of her own life. She was a chartered member of the New Horizons Club in Port Maitland, proposed and worked on the collection of past history found in "Historic Trails of Beaver River, Port Maitland, Darlings Lake, Short Beach and Sandford. She is survived by son, Benjamin Anthony (Rae); daughter, Winnifred Grace (Gary) Bullerwell; sisters, Muriel Devillez, Ontario; Benita Cann, Cedar Lake; brother, Merle Wetmore, Beaver River; grandsons, Patrick, Ryan, Mark and Westin; granddaughters, Amy and Leah; great-grandchildren, Noah, Ethan, Quinn, Jacob and Darius; as well as many dear nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband of 60 years, Henry; sisters, Harriette Thomas, Roberta Lloyd, Mary Greene, Nina Sears and Edith Delaney; brother, Edgar Wetmore; nephews, Freddie Lloyd, George Campbell and Gregory Delaney. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place Thursday, April 28 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Friday, April 29 at 2 p.m. at Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in Port Maitland Beaver River Cemetery.
