Bessie May Proctor, the daughter of Jonas and Sarah Speicher Keim, was born at Davenport, Nebraska, on April 29, 1903. Her death occurred at Aurora, Nebraska, following a short illness, on April 12, 1978, at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 13 days.
Her early years were spent in the vicinity of Davenport, where she received her education in the Pleasan (sic) Prairie School in Nuckolls County.

Bessie May Proctor, the daughter of Jonas and Sarah Speicher Keim, was born at Davenport, Nebraska, on April 29, 1903. Her death occurred at Aurora, Nebraska, following a short illness, on April 12, 1978, at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 13 days.
Her early years were spent in the vicinity of Davenport, where she received her education in the Pleasan (sic) Prairie School in Nuckolls County.
On June 26, 1924, she was united in marriage to John A. Proctor at Belleville, Kansas, and immediately moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where they resided until 1933. While residing in Kansas City, four of their children were born: Jonas, David, Idonna and Robert. In 1933 they moved to Lake Wales, Florida, residing their approximately 9 years. Two of their children were born there, namely Dean and Bruce. In 1941 they moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where one son, Carlos, was born. In 1942 they moved to Lawrence, Nebraska, and resided there for one year and then moved to Grand Island, Nebraska. In 1944 they moved to Hamilton County where they still reside. She was a homemaker all her married life.
Mrs. Proctor was a member of the United Methodist Church at Aurora, the Community Center and Navy Mothers and the Aurora Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jonas; two grandchildren; her parents; three brothers, Harry, Oliver and Bob Keim and three sisters, Mrs. Edna Shattuck, Mrs. Ruth Bish and Miss Alice Keim.
Her survivors include her husband, John A. Proctor; five sons, David James, Robert Marlin and Bruce Franklin Proctor, all of Aurora, Merwin Dean Proctor of Grand Island and Carlos Cleveland Proctor of Minden, Nebraska; one daughter, Mrs. Idonna Shirley Russell of Aurora; one sister, Mrs. Lucy H. Baker of Brandon, Oregon; twenty three grandchildren; three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many close friends who will cherish her memory.
Funeral services were held April 14 at the United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Aurora Cemetery.
