Myers (this should say George Alonzo Myers), was born October 21, 1887 (*our records say 1888) in the Walnut Grove community northwest of Cambridge. Her thirty-six years were lived in the midst of the rural environment in which she first saw the light of day. Her earliest associates were those who lived on neighboring farms. Her school days were spent in the Evergreen school house nearby. When a girl of sixteen she became a Christian; making her decision with others who were converted in a revival meeting held in the Walnut Grove School. She and her husband united with this society which later occupied the present Walnut Grove Methodist Church. She was united in marriage to Edson Bennett, January 1, 1908. Five children were born to them: Hazel Bernice, Irene Esther, Chester Harold, Delmer Edson, and Loren Wayne. The girls have entered the junior year in High School. The baby was born seven weeks ago. Mrs. Bennett has been seriously ill ever since the baby was born, October 9, (1925). She seemed so much better Thanksgiving Day and enjoyed the family fellowship so much. It came as a shock when the news was given out that she died suddenly, Friday morning. Just as the alarm clock sounded five she became very ill. Uttering the name of her savior she told her husband that she was going to heaven. Medical aid was immediately summoned but within eight minutes she was gone. Some months ago, realizing the condition of her health and knowing what approaching motherhood might mean, she had asked her daughters to take good care for the children if anything should happen to her. A most sacred and most solemn trust has been placed on them. She was a devoted daughter, a loving wife and tender, affectionate mother. She was greatly beloved by all who knew her. Loved ones and friends are still stunned by the shock of her sudden death. A father, mother, husband, five children, two sisters: Mrs. Leslie Tesdall, Huxley; and Opal Myers, four brothers, Burnis Myers; Wilford Myers of Boone; Clifford Myers, Huxley; and Virgil Myers, a large number of relatives and a host of friends mourn her death. The funeral services were held in the Walnut Grove Methodist Church Sunday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Reverend Peter Jacobs of Cambridge. The beautiful floral tributes and the large congregation that could not begin to seat the crowd into the church gave evidence of the high esteem in which she was held. A quartet from the Cambridge Union church sang two hymns… (The next few lines were not readable)….Internment was in the Cemetery at Ames. It is hard to understand why one so good, so young, so greatly beloved and so needed in the home should be taken. The husband and family and the loved ones have the deepest sympathy of the community.
