Brian Kottas will officiate with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery at Neligh. Visitation will be Friday, 3-8 p.m., at Steffen Mortuary in Battle Creek. She died Monday, July 27, 1992, at a Norfolk hospital. She was born March 9, 1901, at Creighton, the daughter of Arthur and Abbie (Urwin) Stolp. She attended school at Creighton and later at York. She had been employed as a dental assistant at Creighton before her marriage on Jan.7, 1920, to Archie Van Kirk at Brunswick. She was later employed as a nursing aide at the Norfolk Regional Center and at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Mrs. Van Kirk moved to Community Pride Care Center a month ago. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Survivors include sons, Arthur "Jack" and Archie Jr., both of California; daughters, Mrs. Zula (Pat) Peterson of California, Trudy Gertrude Chamberlain of Norfolk and Mrs. Harold (Joanne) Ruppert of Battle Creek; 26 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Earl Stolp of Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and three grandchildren. ...Norfolk Daily News, July 29, 1992 ******** Mr. Archie Van Kirk and Miss Bessie Stolp were married at the Congregational parsonage by Rev. DeBanham, Wednesday, January 7, 1920. After the ceremony, the young couple went to the home of the bride's parents, where a wedding supper was served. The bride is the accomplished daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Stolp, who has grown to womanhood in this vicinity. She is well known among her wide circle of friends. She attended Creighton High School and also the York Business College. The groom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Van Kirk of Brunswick and is a prosperous young farmer. Mr. and Mrs. Van Kirk will be at home to their many friends on their farm northwest of Brunswick.
