Read More	Bessie V. Ritcey - Passes Away at 100 RITCEY, Bessie Viola - 100, formerly of Riverport, passed away in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on Wednesday, August 10, 2011. Born on October 21, 1910 in Middle LaHave, she was a daughter of the late Captain Ernest and Eveline (TANNER) Wilkie. She was a member of St. John's United Church, Middle LaHave. She attended Trinity United Church, Riverport and was a member of the church choir for 25 years, as well as a member of the UCW. She was also a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 56, Riverport, in which she held all offices including Noble Grand and was the recipient of the 50-year Jewel. As a young girl, she made several trips with her mother to the West Indies and other ports of call during summer vacations aboard her father's three master ship the 'Eveline Wilkie'. She was a wonderful caring and loving mother who was truly devoted to her family. Bessie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her sons, Ernest (Patricia), Riverport; Marven (Shirley), Moncton; Lowell (Yvonne), Conquerall Mills; grandchildren, Wayne Ritcey, St. Martins, N.B.; Karen (James) Jalbert, Dalhousie, N.B.; Melanie (Adam) Clark, London, Ont.; Anthony (Melissa) Ritcey, Calgary, Alta.; Linda (Ivan) Brown, Riverport; Deborah (Tim) Darrt, Truro; seven great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm; daughter-inlaw, Marion Ritcey; mother and father, Ernest and Eveline Wilkie; brothers, Douglas and Purcell (who died in infancy) and sister, Gladys Walters. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. 3, Lunenburg with visitation Saturday from 2-4 p.m. A service celebrating Bessie's life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Trinity United Church, Rose Bay, Rev. Ron Frampton officiating. Interment will be in Shepherd's Hill Cemetery, Riverport. Flowers or memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church, St. John's United Church, Riverport Fire Department or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Thank you to all who sent condolences to our family. A special note of thanks for the wonderful care provided to our mother by Dr. Heather Robertson, staff and nurses on the 4th floor of South Shore Regional Hospital. Also, special thanks to Bev and Jimmy Nauss who took wonderful care of our mother during the last few years of her life.
