She was born on May 22, 1919, in Mansfield, the daughter of Clarence and Hilda (Marks) Whitley. The family moved to Brewster, where her father ran the ferry. She attended School in Brewster and graduated from Bridgeport High School. On Nov. 6, 1940, she married Howard Hice in Bridgeport. Mrs. Hice had been a member of the Bridgeport Assembly of God Church since 1940. She was a member of the Christian Writers Association in Wenatchee.... She attended School in Brewster and graduated from Bridgeport High School. On Nov. 6, 1940, she married Howard Hice in Bridgeport. Mrs. Hice had been a member of the Bridgeport Assembly of God Church since 1940. She was a member of the Christian Writers Association in Wenatchee. She wrote poetry and had many poems published. She also published a book of poetry titled "How Purple the Lilacs." She is survived by her husband, Howard, at the home; four children, Larry Hice of Anchorage, Alaska, Lynne Courtney of Eugene, Ore., Dale Hice of Omak and Mary Lu Foster of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Ila Renner of Pateros; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Whitley, and a sister, Olive Marchel. Arrangements are by Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
