She had during the day been blessed with her usual good health and had performed her household duties as was her custom. Betsey Brown was born at Edmeston, Otsego county, N.Y., March 25, 1834. In 1853, at Franklinvile, Cataraugus county, N.Y., she was married to Elmer Chase and three years thereafter they came to this county and settled in Honey Creek township where they have since resided, with the exception of two years residence in the city. Mrs. Chase was held in high esteem by all who knew her. She was a kind and affectionate wife and mother a good and kind neighbor and friend, and charitably disposed toward all. She is survived by her husband, her daughter Mrs. Laura E. Green, and her sons Charles E. and Leslie S. The funeral held at the family residence, conducted by Rev. Lusk, of Strawberry Point, was largely attended, and the remains were laid to rest in the Edgewood cemetery. The Manchester Democrat, Manchester, Iowa, September 6, 1899
