Her funeral will be Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Redfield, S.D. Reverend Grace Rhodes will officiate. After a lunch and a time for fellowship the burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Betty was born Nov. 13, 1929, in Aberdeen to Roy W. and Gladys (Sanders) Erickson. She grew up in the Stratford area and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1949. Betty married Maurice Mason on June 9, 1949, in Aberdeen. They lived in Frankfort while owning and operating the Standard Oil Service Station. They later moved to their farm east of Frankfort where they farmed for many years. They enjoyed spending their winters in Texas. Maurice died in 1998 and Betty continued wintering in Donna, Texas. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Timber Creek Extension Club, Red Hat Ladies and Mt. Hope Cemetery Board. Betty enjoyed square dancing, watching baseball and softball and playing cards and dominoes. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty was an avid volunteer in the Frankfort community. Betty is survived by two sons: Jerry (Shiela) Mason of Frankfort and Terry Mason of Frankfort; two daughters: Vickie (Jeff) Felderman of Doland and Bonnie Wagner of Doland and eight grandchildren: Brad and Jared Mason, Christine Hildebrandt, Ryan, Chris and Alex Felderman, Joel and Lindsey Wagner and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Vera "Toby" Robertson of Florence, Mont.; her brother Robert (Barb) Erickson of Piedmont, S.D. and a sister-in-law Mona Erickson of Denver, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maurice in 1998, her brother Ralph "Bill", and two sons-in-law. Published in the Aberdeen News on 10/2/2005.
