Description	:	Betty Ann (Bowden) Lovrien, 73, of Hawarden, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at the St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden with Rev. Barb Joy officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial of the cremated remains in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 8:30 p.m. at the church. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family. Betty Ann Bowden was born on February 4, 1937 in Ireton, Iowa to William F. and Clara M. (Watkins) Bowden. She grew up on a farm outside of Ireton with her 3 brothers and 3 sisters as the youngest child. She attended Ireton public school, where she graduated from high school in 1955. She then attended the Ellis School of Cosmetology of Sioux City and graduated in 1956. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and doing many crafts. She is survived by her son, Tim and his wife Amie of Akron, Iowa; daughters, Sindy Lancaster of Rockford, Illinois, Pat Russell and her husband Tony of Luther, Oklahoma, and Shelly Van't Hof and her husband Jeff of Akron, Iowa; sisters, Wanda Kuchel of Omaha, Nebraska, Velda Juffer of Sioux Center, Iowa and Ardel Smit also of Sioux Center; brother, Thayne of Apache Junction, Arizona; grandchildren, Crystal Dawson of Colgate, Oklahoma, Jayme Obert of Henderson, Nevada, Latonya Baxter of Antlers, Oklahoma, Cecilia Russell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sophia Sommervold of Hurley, South Dakota, Shaunna Feekes of Alcester, South Dakota, Clara Van't Hof of Akron, and Landen and Hayden Lovrien of Akron; 9 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, William and Clara Bowden; brothers, Homer and Dean; brothers-in-law, Gerald Juffer, Gaylon Kuchel, and Delmar Smit; sister-in-law, Viola Bowden; and a grandson, John Henry Obert III.
