Born May 20, 1935 in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Edward Gordon Bailey and the late Christine Litchford Bailey Alvis and step-daughter of the late Richard Alvis. Mrs. Cyrus was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Eternal Baptist Church. Born May 20, 1935 in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Edward Gordon Bailey and the late Christine Litchford Bailey Alvis and step-daughter of the late Richard Alvis. Mrs. Cyrus was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Eternal Baptist Church. Mrs. Cyrus is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Diane Black; daughters, Kathy Friend and Tina Prestepino and her husband, Lewis; one son, Joseph McLane and his fiance', Beverly Robinson; two sisters, Judy Falls and Carolyn Ford and her husband, Paul; one brother, Richard Alvis; a special and loving grandson, Albert Branham and his wife, Christy; granddaughter, Lindsay Hines and her husband, Mark; a son-in-law, Terry Black; numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends; a devoted friend, Robert Wood and four stepchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2006 in Spring Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Carlton Dunn, Sr. and the Rev. Mark Snowden. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Whitten Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Monelison Chapel is serving the family.
