Read More	Obit from Scharbach’s Columbia Funeral Home, November 26, 2016 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Betty Bertha (Damm) Kaufman, 87 passed away at Central Washington Hospital after a brief illness on November 25, 2016. Betty was born on August 22, 1929 in Culbertson, MT to the late Peter and Katie Damm. She was the youngest of eleven children. Betty married the late George Kaufman in Glendive, MT in January of 1947 and six children were born from this union. Betty worked in several apple packing warehouses in Quincy in the early 1960’s. She also worked in what was then the Brown and Kelly French fry processing plant. Betty was one of the initial 100 employees hired by Lamb-Weston in 1966, retiring from Lamb-Weston in 2001. After retiring, Betty spent more time enjoying hobbies and traveling. Her hobbies included watching the Seattle Mariners, playing bingo, gardening, and card games with friends and family, including her sisters-in-law Lucille Kaufman and Dorothy Kaufman. Betty traveled with her sisters Dolly Leibelt, Molly Rasmusan, and Lilly Servo to visit Florida, Hawaii, Missouri, Nevada, and Mexico. She went on trips with her children to Arizona, California, Florida, Idaho, Montana, New York, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota, Washington, and Wyoming. She traveled by rail on Amtrak to a Kaufman family reunion in Montana. She and her sister Molly have their sister Dolly to thank for the many Sunday afternoons spent enjoying bingo and slot machines. She was a die-hard Mariners fan, attending many home games with her children and grandchildren. She often spent several weeks each spring with her daughter Marjorie, which just happened to coincide with the Mariners spring training camp in Arizona. She once remarked to family that she wished she had started going to the Quincy Senior Center sooner because she enjoyed Thursday night dinners and playing cards with her friends afterwards. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Katie Damm; four brothers, Bill, David, John, and Peter, and; five sisters, Dolly Leibelt, Lilly Servo, Mary Damm, Millie Green, and Molly Rasmusan. Betty is survived by her sister Annie Buchholz of Great Falls, MT; children Marjorie Smith of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Ernest Kaufman of Chelan, WA; Conrad Kaufman of Wenatchee, WA; William Kaufman of Quincy, WA; Patty Kaufman of Quincy, WA, and; Donald Kaufman of Spokane, WA; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mom with her love and care was the glue that always held the family together. A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Scharbach’s Columbia Funeral Chapel, 300 G Street SE, Quincy, WA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Scharbach’s Columbia Funeral Chapel, 300 G Street SE, Quincy, WA, with internment to follow at Quincy Valley Cemetery, 625 F Street SW, Quincy, WA. The family invites you to join us for a potluck to celebrate Betty’s life at the Quincy Moose Lodge, 109 E Street SE, Quincy, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Betty Kaufman to the Quincy Senior Center, 522 F Street SE, Quincy, WA 98848.
